Like to share an issue concerning the iPad that i’ve been experiencing this winter in the hopes others have too; semi-cold fingers, iPad &/ or room make for a very stubborn drawing experience…..

I’m talking indoors & it doesn’t have to be that cold either, even slightly below normal room temperature.

There’s a real resistance that happens. My fingers don’t seamlessly glide around. Can’t figure out how to fix it (i can rub my fingers quickly on my pants to create friction for a very temp fix) Also i don’t know if it’s a humidity or a room pressure thing either. Slows me down like heck.

It’s not about too little oil on one’s fingers either or if the glass is clean. Can’t find anything online although I’ve talked to some folks who say they sometimes have the problem with their smart phones….

Anyone know anything about this & more importantly, how to circumvent it in reasonable way?

    Thanks…!

hmmm, not sure. I don’t have this issue with my pad UNLESS my fingers are also damp/sticky. could that be it? Otherwise, I’d have Apple take a look. (or possibly you have already?)

Thanks for the response Mia! I’m surprised that this isn’t an issue being experienced by more folks. I worked two events this weekend with my iPad (sketching folks) & had it happen at both venues which were large but indoors….

Weather here has been wet, probably in the late 50’s-early 60’s degree area. Fingers were clean & so was the iPad. On another board someone mentioned possible condensation on top of the glass but mine was clear. Another possibility shared by this person is an iPad that is colder than it’s environment. Either way, iPad stayed this way for the duration of 2.5 hours on the first job & 3.5 hours on the other so no warm up occurred. The only folks i know at Apple are marketing ones so no, haven’t touched base about it with a tech person (speaking of such, apple’s discussion area is usually useless in regard to stuff like this…..)

Is it under warranty? I’d probably exchange it. I don’t experience this at all with mine and its been in some pretty cold environments (I keep it in my bag when I travel–through rain sleet or snow! lol)–hot as well. Makes me think there might be something wrong with the actual device. Let us know what you find!
