Education: 2 years, 7 months ago · Viewjust wanted to get in on the discussion, and lend myself, I taught high school art for 4 years, over the last few years I have been going into the classroom and presenting. Last week I visited a 6th grade art class to share digital media. The session rounded up with giving all 24 kids a chance to make marks on a collaborative piece, that then after the class I went in and built one of my villages on top. Even with 1 iPad all the kids had opportunity to engage and get their first touch… http://blog.grauel.net/2010/09/exposure-a-visit-to-fletcher-art-class/

HOTELS OPTIONS FOR NYC (Still looking? Maybe we can find a group rate): 2 years, 7 months ago · View
How many people can stay in the Pod? I love the idea of sharing the experience and having people to travel to and from the activities with.. It doesn’t cost me anything to cancel my Hostel reservation, so I am game…
I’ll call in a few and let you know.
okay…the Pod looks A LOT cooler. Makes The Jane look a bit haunted. The rates are higher (by $60). I will contact them as well. Then THIS group can let me know which hotel you prefer. I want to make sure we have the most comfy (and affordable) arrangement. (the music in the shower and free wifi IN YOUR ROOM sold me.)
would really love to get it below $100, I am wiling to pay more than the $38 hostel cost to be with the group and have people to ride sub etc to conference… but trying to keep the whole trip on a budget
what is the link to the Pod?
http://www.thepodhotel.com They also offer bunks (but you have to request) I put a call in to them today. They advised that I will have to talk tot he General Manager to find out what sort of arrangements can be made for a large group. But I imagine that I will have to gaurantee space for more than 6 people in order to get any discounts.
Let me know what you think.
The General Manager will not be in until tomorrow afternoon. So I will call back then.
ok, I am pretty sure you can count me in, did you already make reservation? should i wait until you learn more before I do?
let’s do it–i prefer this space–feels more modern and more along the lines of what we do! (also will allow me to stay connected…IN THE POD…lol)
I will cancel mine with The Jane.my only issue is that the jane is 60+ cheaper, which adds $200 more to the trip, i think I am willing to Jane it, for a savings of $200….
ur right. I just booked in both. I need to talk to someone at the Pod before I make my decision. did you cancel your hostel reservation? Do you prefer a Pod versus hostel?
still have rez at hostel as backup, but would endure the extra cost of Jane to be a part of group that is ”traveling” the same path. I tend to be directionally chanllenged:), my wife would prefer me to take on some extra cost to insure I have folks around …
Luis Peso, his girlfriend and me, made the reservations at the Pod hotel. Looks a good place for stay. It will be cool to be a lot of people from the con at the same place.
I’m game for this, see if we can get a discount!
Is everyone going Podside then? If that’s the case I’ll switch my reservation.
my understanding is that both Jane and ”Pod Hotel” are pods, i am still for the lower price, where are u reserved now craig?
Right now my wife and I have a reservation at The Distrikt Hotel – http://www.distrikthotel.com/about.php
It’s not exactly cheap – but it got such good reviews everywhere we looked.
Plus there was a quote by Le Corbusier on the front page – that’s what sold me.
i am the proud holder now of 2 reservations, one at the Jane and one at the Hostel International…
Jon, the bunks might be cheaper (a lot lower than $159) at the pod. I will inquire *keeps fingers crossed*
I just canceled our other reservation and went with The Pod Hotel.
I have a reservation at the POD. It’s my first time to NYC… should be fun. Hope there is a good size a group of us… at the POD

Ok- I just called the Pod- if I can get someone who is interest, the girl I talked to said she could get me a bnk room, anyone brave enough to go half-ees with me? ($85 a night)? I need to give a call back tomorrow- so that beats the jane cost and able to stay with the rest of the ”in” crew at the Pod
Jonathan,
This is a No from me… I snore. But I hope someone takes up your suggestion.
JWhow bad of snoring are we talking? I sleep pretty sound… especially when i have saved money ….
Come- on gang still no takers
I promise I am not scary….I am still open to sharing a bunk room at the Pod if anyone wants to save a few bucks.
no takers? i will add it to the registration message we send out.that would be great, would love to get the reduced rate
sent it out, but no feeback as of yet.
Hi Jonathan, I sent you a PM about sharing a room. Thanks!
